Dr Samantha Herath completed her Respiratory and Sleep Medicine training in New Zealand becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2011. She has completed specialised post-fellowship training in interventional bronchoscopy and thoracic malignancy at McGill University Montreal, Canada for 12 months duration in 2013. She is now working as a staff specialist at Westmead Hospital and is an honorary lecturer at the University of Sydney.
She had published widely in major peer-reviewed journals and has won multiple scholarships and grants for her research contributions.
She and is currently conducting several multi-centre trials looking at introducing safer and more effective biopsy methods in diagnosing lung nodules, using Radial EBUS and cryo-biopsy.
