Professor Lee is a chest physician and professor with 20 years of experience in translational research of pleural diseases, especially pleural malignancies and infection. His research program is amongst the most active in the field and includes a laboratory and clinical research arm closely integrated with a tertiary clinical pleural service. His work has improved clinical practice on many occasions and contributed directly to reducing mortality, morbidity and healthcare costs in patient care.
He has published 250+ original and invited papers (H-index 48; total citations >8000), and a grant record of over AUD $20 million. He has delivered 280+ invited lectures on pleural diseases, including at 100+ international conferences in 32 countries. He is the editor of the Textbook of Pleural Diseases (three editions), the most comprehensive text in the field, and has served on international pleural guideline panels. Professor Lee has a strong record in training clinical fellows and postdoctoral scientists, many of whom have set up their own pleural services or research teams.
